Pakistan, Tajikistan mull agreement

Karachi:  Tajik aviation authorities are weighing to start direct flights for two Pakistani destinations and also requested their counterparts at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for the fifth freedom rights for traffic, a statement said on Wednesday.

The statement said Director General CAA Pakistan Asim Suleiman and Muhammad Yusuf Azimovich, Head of Department of Civil Aviation Tajikistan also signed an air services agreement between the two countries.

“The delegation informed that they wish to start direct flights from Dushanbe to Lahore and Islamabad and also requested fifth freedom traffic rights,” it added. “Aviation authorities of both the countries would meet again early next year in Dushanbe for the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) “after completing necessary formalities.”

Pakistani authorities also discussed opportunities of trade, tourism and agreed to enhance people to people contact through air transport links between the two countries.
