Zone I, II, V seal wins in KMC-KCCA tournament
KARACHI: Zone I, Zone II and Zone V secured victories in the KMC–KCCA Inter Zonal Under-17 Cricket Tournament’s Division-II here on Thursday.
In the first match at TMC ground, Zone II routed Zone VII by 255 runs.
Zone II scored a mammoth 337 runs for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs.
Haider Abbas hammered 107 with nine bounders and one six. Haider Ali made 56 with six fours and one six. Muhammad Yousuf (50) and Wajahat Kamal (32) were the other main contributors.
Haider Abbas and Wajahat scored 121 runs for the opening partnership. Haider Abbas and Yousuf shared 108 runs for the second wicket.
Zone VII were bundled out for a paltry 82 runs in 21.2 overs. Muhammad Sabi (23) was the leading scorer. Muneer Rehman grabbed four wickets for 31 runs. Ebadur Rehman took three for 26 runs. Talah Altaf picked up two wickets.
Hyder Abbas was declared man of the match.
In the second match, Zone V thumped Zone III by 218 runs at Landhi Gymkhana Ground.
Zone V scored 298 runs for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs. Safeer Haider smashed 109 with ten boundaries and two sixes. Mutal Shah (51) was the other successful batsman. Safeer and Mutal added 117 for the fourth-wicket partnership. Shahzaib Khan and Zarar Shah took two wickets each.
Zone III batted poorly and were all out for 79 in 28.2 overs. Muhammad Hamza (12) was the top scorer. Hunail Nadeem grabbed seven wickets with his devastating medium-fast bowling for 32 runs. Safeer and Hunail were named joint men of the match.
In the third match, Zone I defeated Zone IV by 50 runs at RLCA Gulberg Ground.
Zone I posted 300 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. SM Shaheer (100), Yawar Imam (59) and Umair Yousuf (54) were the leading contributors.
Shaheer and Umair added 105 for the second-wicket partnership. Shaheer then added 114 with Yawar for the third wicket.
Zone IV were all out on 250 in 46.1 overs. Hasan Ahmed (48), Ali Tirmizi (40), Mubashir Amin (39) and Amanullah (38) were the main scorers.
Yawar Ameen grabbed three wickets for 37. Kaleemullah and Saud Amin took two wickets each. Shaheer was given the man-of-the-match award.
