Ex-diplomat Qutubuddin Aziz passes away

Qutubuddin Aziz, former diplomat and renowned scholar, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday at the age of 86, a family member confirmed.
Aziz, who served at the Pakistan Embassy in London as minister (public relations) from January 1978 to March 1979 and as minister (information) from December 1980 to February 1986, was not well for quite some time. “On Saturday night, he felt unwell, and he was shifted to a private hospital, where he breathed his last,” Samina Iqbal Qasim, wife of former Test cricketer Iqbal Qasim and daughter of Qutubiuddin Aziz, told The News.
Aziz, who was also a lecturer, broadcaster, social worker, journalist, educationist, academician and writer of international repute, is survived by three daughters and a son.
Samina Iqbal informed The News that Aziz’s burial would take place on Monday (Dec 7), as the family is waiting for his two children to come to Pakistan from abroad. Aziz was one of those who had the honour to work with the Qauid-i-Azam.
