Aqeel cruises into Subh-e-Nau National Tennis final

KARACHI: Pakistan No 1 Aqeel Khan confirmed his presence in the final of Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Championship at PTF Complex in Islamabad on Friday.
Aqeel faced little resistance from his semi-final opponent Muhammad Abid and recorded a convincing 6-3, 6-4 triumph.
In the final, Aqeel will face eighth seed Ahmed Chaudhry, who defeated Mohammad Mudassir, recording a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the pre-final.
The pair of Aqeel and Ahmed on the other hand reached the final of men’s doubles event when they defeated Mohammad Abid and Usman Rafique in the semi-final 6-3, 6-1.
Aqeel and Ahmed will take on Yasir Khan and Shahzad Khan who defeated Mohammad Muzammil and Mohammad Mudassir 7-5, 6-1.
Sara Mansoor thrashed seasoned Shahida Farooq 6-0, 6-0 to confirm her place in the summit clash.
She will face Sara Mahboob, who overpowered Mehak Khokhar 6-2, 6-0.
In boys U18 semi-finals, Mohammad Muzammil thrashed Aqib Umar 6-0, 6-1 and Aman Atique defeated Saqib Umer 6-1, 6-3.
