PESHAWAR: The Federal Services Tribunal on Tuesday cancelled one-step backdated promotion to the officers of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP).The tribunal gave the verdict in five different appeals filed by the officers of the NH&MP recruited in the force in 2002.
When the tribunal started hearing arguments in appeals of Ghulam Qadir and Rana Amanullah, the lawyers of the appellants argued that the sub-inspectors of the regular police were given one-step promotion when they were inducted in the NH&MP, which is illegal.
The lawyers said that those recruited as patrolling officers in 2002 should be promoted as chief patrolling officers in grade-17 as per their 60 per cent quota. They continued that in case of promotion, the first right was that of the officers of the NHMP.
The court after hearing arguments, cancelled the seniority list issued on March 27, 2007 and directed the NH&MP to issue a fresh list within three months.
