FAISALABAD: On the orders of Fesco Chief Executive Officer Rashid Ahmad Aslam, four officers, including an executive engineer and two SDOs, have been suspended for negligence in duty and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against them.
Those suspended are Headquarters Executive Engineer (Civil) Muhammad Shafiq, SDO (Civil) Sargodha Circle Muhammad Farooq, SDO Satiana Imran Shahbaz and the line superintendent (Construction) Jhang sub-division.
SDO Satiana Imran Shahbaz has been suspended on the charges of connivance in pilferage of 1,7000 electricity units valuing Rs 300,000 for a poultry farm by installing a bogus meter after altering the status of the already installed industrial meter in the official papers. The pilferage of electricity was traced by the Fesco intelligence team during a raid.
In another raid, the Fesco intelligence team traced a dead meter installed in a private college of Faisalabad. The connection of the college was permanently disconnected in September 2014, but electricity to the college was being supplied illegally and the reading on the meter was 55,000 Units. A detection bill of Rs 900,000 has been sent to the college. The power supply to the college will be restored after payment of the detection bill, said a Fesco spokesman.
The team also conducted a raid at the house of Line Superintendent Shahpur sub-division Muhammad Zafar and recovered water supply transformers and other appliances from there. The line superintendent has reportedly established a workshop in his house for repairing the defected transformers and up till now he has deprived the Fesco of Rs 1.5 million by selling the company apparatus. It is worth mentioning that the raiding team was informed that the line superintendent had some time back lodged a report that four water supply transformers had been stolen but the raiding party recovered the bodies, nut bolts and oil of the transformers from his house.
Meanwhile, the Fesco CEO warned all the SDOs to arrange correct reading and photos of the consumers meters otherwise they will be suspended and face the departmental inquiry.
