LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Monday extended stay on 14-per cent increase in gas tariff and sought a reply from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and others by Dec 2. A lawyer-petitioner, Shahid Ikram, filed the petition and pointed out that the increase in the gas tariff was a burden on the general public. He stated that the Ogra did not meet legal requirements before issuing the impugned notification. The petitioner said that the law required the Ogra violated a mandatory public hearing before increasing the tariff. He said the act of the authority was unlawful and liable to be set aside.
