Operation in Khyber Agency to continue till elimination of last militant, says PA

LANDIKOTAL: A senior official of the Khyber Agency administration said on Friday that three militants allegedly involved in killing of three security personnel in Jamrud subdivision had been arrested and arms and ammunition recovered from their possession.
Political Agent Syed Shahab Ali Shah was briefing journalists after addressing two separate jirgas of Kukikhel and Sepah elders and a Darbar of the security forces in Jamrud on Friday.
He said the forces had expedited search and clearance operation in Landikotal and Jamrud tehsils to lay hands on those involved in attacks on the security personnel.
He said Khassadar, Levies and Frontier Corps personnel had arrested one of the main accused involved in killing a Khassadar force member three days ago. He said they raided a house in Sur Kamar area of Jamrud tehsil and recovered a huge quantity of ammunition and several suicide jackets.
The official said a top TTP commander was also arrested from the home.The political agent said that during the last several months, militants including two commanders of TTP had been killed in Khyber Agency. Several other militants were still staying in Jamrud but they would not be spared, he added.
He said intelligence units had been created in Khassadar and Levies forces so that they could trace outlaws easily. He said some of the Khassadars would get intelligence training.About reports that Lashkar-i-Islam chief Mangal Bagh had been appointed Islamic State chief for Khyber Agency, he said: “Mangal Bagh is not in Pakistan as he had fled to Afghanistan. Every militant is our enemy and we will eliminate them.”
Regarding the Sepah Jirga that met him, the political agent said the Sepah tribe elders had been directed to hand over all wanted persons. The official also said that a Khassadar was last week terminated on his poor performance and negligence.
Later, the political agent also addressed the Khassadar and Levies Darbar in Jamrud Jirga hall. He directed the security personnel to keep an eye on suspicious people.He gave Rs30.3 million to the raiding party that arrested a wanted militant from Sur Kamar area of Jamrud.
The official also went to the home of a Khassadar who was killed after he was kidnapped by militants last week. He announced free education for the children of the martyred Khassadar and gave money to the widow.It may be mentioned that two Khassadars, Amir Afridi and Yusuf Afridi, and a Levies man Gohar Ali were killed in Jamrud last week.
