Four ‘TTP terrorists’ killed in shootout

The paramilitary force gunned down four alleged militants and arrested several others in raids in different parts of the city on Wednesday.
The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said personnel of the force conducted intelligence-driven surgical action against suspected hideouts of banned outfits in the Northern Bypass area.
On seeing the troops, the suspected terrorists started indiscriminate fire. The troops fired back and killed four suspects.
The station house officer of Manghopir said police also took part in the encounter that occurred in Allah Bux Goth near the Northern Bypass.
He said those killed were terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He named two of the dead as Taj Massod and Altaf Afridi, and said three TT pistols, two Avan bombs and explosive material were found on the four.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Umeed Ali of the Manghopir Police Station and Rangers Hawaldar Talib suffered minor injuries.
The Rangers spokesman said troops also conducted an intelligence-driven raid on a hideout of a banned outfit in the Qayyumabad area, and arrested three alleged terrorists with weapons.
In raids which the paramilitary force conducted in Sultanabad, Pipri and City Railway Colony areas, seven suspected terrorists of proscribed groups were arrested and weapons found on them were seized.
Cellphones seized
Customs officials claimed to have confiscated thousands of smuggled cellphones at the Jinnah International Airport.
They said that during checking of luggage they found 1,264 mobile phones worth about 80 million and 10 bottles of liquor smuggled through a domestic flight from Turbat to Karachi.
An employee of the national airline, Fida Hussain, was also arrested.
