Last year, the government announced that free laptops would be awarded to deserving students who have secured 78 percent or higher in the annual matriculation board exams. In 2013, officials kept this promise and rewarded students in 2013.
The government then announced that the same promise would hold for students the next year. However, laptops are being distributed amongst Master’s and Doctorate level students, while there is no mention of Matriculation students. Students who have worked hard to achieve high grades deserve to be given what they were promised. The government should keep its word and ensure that the 2014 batch of matriculation students also receive laptops.
