LAHORE
LIGHTING a candle to ward off the darkness is perhaps the noblest and oldest act of mankind, Hindus all over the world, including Pakistan, performed this blessed ritual by celebrating 'Diwali' (The Festival of Lights).
In the provincial metropolis, the biggest Diwali ceremony was held at Krishna Mandir, Ravi Road, where Hindu devotees lighted candles and earthen-lamps (Diya), distributed sweets and offered special prayers for the prosperity of their families and dear ones as well as for Pakistan and their fellow Pakistani brothers and sisters. The Evacuee Trust Property Board made special arrangements on this occasion and in the central ceremony of Diwali organised by the Board at Krishna Mundir besides Board's high-ups, important personalities from other religions also attended the Diwali function and celebrated this grand festival with their Hindu brethren at Krishna Mundir.
Chairman Evacuee Trust Board Siddique-ul-Farooq sent special message of Diwali to the Hindu community along with the bouquet. Hindu leader Dr Manuher Chand thanked the government for its elaborate arrangements for the Hindu community on this happy occasion.
