KARACHI: A week-long softball coaching camp kicked-off on Tuesday at Trinity Methodist Girls Higher Secondary School.
Sindh Softball Association (SSA), in collaboration with Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP), is organising this coaching camp, where more than 50 girls are participating.
Faraz Ijaz is coaching the girls.
SFP has also planned to set up coaching camps in Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar.
“We have realised that we should improve the infrastructure at the grassroots level in order to make softball a competitive sport in the country,” SFP secretary Asif Azeem said during the opening ceremony. “And for that, we have decided to conduct coaching courses and tournaments at school and college levels,” he said.
He said that SFP would organise coaching and umpiring courses for the sports teachers of schools and colleges in Karachi next month.
“Karachi has been the nursery of softball players and it has produced many players who have represented Pakistan in international tournaments,” Asif said.
