HARIPUR: The third annual district education ranking report indicated that Haripur district had secured top position in overall standards of education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing the participants of a function at the Government Centennial Public School here, Alif Ailaan district co-coordinator Zahid Kazmi issued the report. Zahid Kazmi said that the district education ranking began in 2013 and it was an effort to collect the data about the overall performance and infrastructure in schools in various districts in the country.
He said that last year Haripur was ranked 34th in the country while it was judged second in the province.
This year Haripur stood at 4th position countrywide while it managed to secure the top position in the province.
He urged the provincial government to allocate extra budget for education to improve infrastructure and provide basic necessities in schools.
District Education Officer Zafar Arbab Abbasi expressed satisfaction at the prevailing standards of education in the district. Appreciating the efforts of Alif Ailaan in bringing reforms in the education system, he expressed his determination to make education accessible for all. He said that government had announced an increase in the annual budget of education.
