NAB has arrested Kamran Saeed, ex-GM Marketing and Distribution, National Fertilizer Marketing Ltd (NFML), currently serving as Division Transport Manager, Pakistan Railways, in more than Rs 1.6 billion National Fertilizer Marketing Ltd (NFML) case. According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the accused was arrested on allegations of forgery, misuse of authority, embezzlement and causing loss to national exchequer. The accused in connivance with others managed to sell more than 59,000 metric tons of urea in back dates on rates less than the ones applicable at that time. This act of the accused created artificial shortage in the market and caused panic among the farmers. In the same case, the NAB had already arrested nine people. Accused Kamran Saeed will be produced before an accountability court today for remand.
