PESHAWAR: Elected representatives and farmers of Village Council Kala Killay have criticised the local lawmaker of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for what they called unjust and unequal distribution of wheat seeds under Insaf Food Programme in PK-9 constituency.
Talking to The News, general councillors Daulat Khan and Abdul Hameed said that PTI MPA Arbab Jehandad Khan and his nephew, tehsil councillor Arbab Waqas had distributed wheat seeds among their supporters and party workers and neglected hundreds of local farmers.
“We have submitted applications for the seeds as per requirement for the so-called Insaf Food Package but our names were excluded from the list,” stated Daulat Khan, adding that he had been cultivating wheat on his land since long.
Similarly, Haji Azeem of Kala Killay said the local MPA had neglected dozens of small farmers in the distribution of wheat seeds just because that they had not supported him in the recent local government elections.
He alleged that local district and tehsil nazims had awarded hundreds of kilograms of wheat seeds to non-farmers and landless people.
Abdul Basit, a youth councillor of the same village council, said the local farmers had threatened to block the GT Road near Tarnab Farms if the provincial Peshawar district government failed to include the genuine farmers in the distribution of wheat seeds.
General Councillor Daulat Khan said MPA Arbab Jehandad Khan and District Nazim Muhammad Asim did not fulfil their commitment with the local growers.
