CHITRAL: Expressing concern over what they said virtual closure of Langlands Public School and College, a number parents Friday asked Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to intervene to put the school back on track.
They said the deterioration of the institution started after the government refused to extend visa to Carey Schofield, the British principal of the school, a few month back. They said Carey Schofield had been managing the school affairs through emails, text messages and phone calls after she was refused visa.
“However, all the teachers left for Islamabad a week back in a bid to persuade the authorities to issue visa to the principal,” said a worried parent Saif Ali. Another parent, wishing not to be named, said though Geoffrey Langlands, the famous educationist and founder of the school, had appointed Carey Schofield to run the affairs of the institution yet Langlands started a campaign against her and asked the government not to extend her visa after she allegedly sacked the old teachers. The sources said the 50 teachers from the Langlands School and College had persuaded the authorities to issue a visa to Carey Schofield.
