LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani educationist Syed Abidi (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) and a regular columnist for the daily Jang and The News delivered a presentation to the students of the largest Pakistani community school at Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) Doha, Qatar, recently.
Talking to the young students, Abidi stressed the importance of timely career counselling and explained with examples how this could help exploiting the potential of youth towards finding the most suitable and matching future professions and become successful in their lives.
Addressing the 12th grade students who are now to choose their final degree areas after returning to Pakistan or at a university abroad, he highlighted the importance of new and emerging subject areas which have more demand whether in Pakistan or globally.
Abidi indicated the importance of many subjects that directly correspond to the challenges of the global world which play a key role in day-to-day lives. He especially mentioned Biological Sciences, Computer Forensics, Cyber Crime, Mobile and Wireless Communication and said it was a high time for students to look at new courses away from the professions such as doctor, engineer or a lawyer.
His presentation included very useful and extensive information on scholarship opportunities worldwide which informed students how to apply and to qualify for such scholarships at reputable universities abroad. The presentation was largely participated by students, faculty and families of students residing in Doha, Qatar.
Earlier, PEC Principal Nargis Raza Otho and Vice-Principal Raja Nasir welcomed Abidi and were also present during his presentation. It is pertinent to mention that Abidi is now on a trip to Germany where he will be participating in an international education conference.
