The problems of neglected sectors like I-9 and I-10 particularly with regard to sewerage and deteriorating condition of roads need immediate attention of the concerned authorities.
Some problems are years old while others surfaced recently but there is no chance of immediate relief on part of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in near future.
Over a month back, the CDA contractors laid new sewerage lines in Street 41 of sector I-9/4 connecting it with the new one. During the process, the contractor also built new manholes, which have been left open thus posing threat to children. The open manholes are also not visible in the darkness of the night.
The residents of sector I-9/1 are facing problem due to poor drainage system as an hour long rain is enough to inundate about 200 metres part of road near the gate of new Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP).
Similarly, the civic body has also not been able to find solution to choked sewerage lines, particularly in sector I-10/4.
The overall condition of roads, deteriorating day-by-day, also demands immediate action from the CDA to start upgradation work in these two sectors of I series.
An official CDA’s Engineering Wing when contacted by ‘The News’ said the CDA had embarked upon an upgradation plan which would be executed gradually in all sectors.
