A maternal uncle of slain O-level student Suleman Lashari testified before an anti-terrorism court on Wednesday that his sister told him that Salman Abro and his police guards had killed his nephew.
Recording his statement before ATC-III Judge Saleem Raza Baloch, Sabir Arain, who is a police sub-inspector, said his sister told him on the phone that key suspect Abro, son of a senior police officer, and five police constables had come to their house on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer in DHA on May 8, 2014, and murdered Lashari.
The eighteen-year-old died on the spot, and his private guard suffered injuries. In retaliatory fire, Abro was injured and his bodyguard, Zaheer, died.
The attack followed an argument earlier in the day.
An FIR against the alleged killers was lodged by Zeeshan Mustafa Lashari, father of the slain student, at the Darakhshan police station under sections 302, 324, 427/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Police later arrested the main accused and the four constables.
Man jailed
Additional District and Sessions Judge awarded 14 years’ imprisonment to a man, Gulab Khan, who was caught with a hand grenade on December 3, 2014 in the Khokrapar police limits.
The court also awarded imprisonment of four years to two men, Aziz and Khan Zada, who had robbed the house of a citizen, Usman, in the Shahrahe Faisal police jurisdiction in 2013.
‘TTP man’ remanded
An ATC remanded an activist of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Paksitan to the police for 14 days.
Rashid Khan is standing trial for possessing three suicide jackets and explosive material.
Charge sheet sought
The court also sent another man, Tahir alias Taroo, who is alleged to have attacked a Rangers’ vehicle, to the central prison on judicial remand, and directed the investigation officer to submit a charge sheet at the next hearing.
Tahir is said to be an activist of a political party.
PSO official
