LAHORE
The Punjab Commission on Status of Women (PCSW) has decided to link government job portals to its toll free helpline with a view to providing information to hundreds of women callers.
A spokeswoman for the PCSW stated that all the provincial departments had been asked to send electronic and hard copies of available job opportunities/advertisements as PCSW, which is a statutory body of the Punjab, was managing a Toll Free Women’s Helpline where women could lodge their complaints. Since its inception in September 2014, hundreds of women have called the Helpline and have been provided with the support, advice and information sought by them.
The spokeswoman said that one of the often repeated queries made at the Helpline was the information about the job opportunities available from the government sector. As the Punjab government is committed to the cause of women’s empowerment and has taken a number of initiatives in this regard, the PCSW has decided to link women callers with the government job portals to provide information on jobs, the spokesman concluded.
