LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has launched its membership form in Urdu that is easy to understand and would enable small businessmen to get it done without any external help, a statement said on Wednesday.
LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said, “When most developed nations such as Japan, China and Germany are doing most of their work in their official languages then why can’t we do, as well.”
He urged all government departments to use Urdu as official language and translate their rules and regulations, acts, status and websites in the national language.
He also appealed the Federal Board of Revenue to issue all tax-related documents in Urdu to make the tax system simple and easy to understand for the business community.
The tax return form should be in the national language and contain only one page so that everyone can understand it easily and can perform his national obligation, he said. Arshad said that due to difficult and complex tax documents in English language, the majority of traders fail to understand, which affects the efforts of the government for expansion of the tax net.
