KARACHI: Leg spinner Yasir Shah is recovering fast from a back injury and should be match fit for the second Test against England which will get underway in Dubai from October 22.
Sources in the Pakistani dressing room told ‘The News’ on Tuesday that Yasir’s back injury is not of a serious nature and he should be fully fit in the lead up to the second Test.
Pakistan suffered a major jolt a day before the opening Test against England which got underway in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday when Yasir injured his back during training.
It was seen as a big blow for the hosts, who see Yasir as their biggest trump card in the three-Test series against England.
Also expected to be full fit ahead of the Dubai Test is top-order batsman Azhar Ali. He was forced to miss the series opener because of a foot infection that he carried from the tour of Zimbabwe.
“Pakistan’s squad in UAE will return to full strength ahead of the second Test as both Yasir and Azhar should return to action by the time the team travels to Dubai after the conclusion of the opening Test,” a source said.
