LAHORE
Punjab University (PU) administration has increased the MPhil thesis allowance from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 on the demand of varsity's Academic Staff Association.
This was informed during the PU Academic Staff Association’s executive council meeting with Vice- Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran on Tuesday.
PUASA President Prof Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam, Vice-President Prof Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry, Dr Mahboob Hussain, executive members, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Shahid Munir, RO-1 Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Acting Treasurer Rao Muhammad Sharif and RO II Malik Muhammad Zaheer were also present.
The PU administration also assured the ASA of providing support regarding the purchase of land for University Town III.
The delegation demanded the VC for recognition of journals of oriental languages upon which the VC instantly took up the matter with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for resolution to the matter.
Dr Mujahid Kamran also instructed the officials concerned to resolve the remaining issues of University Town 1 and Town 2.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of University Town 3 and it was decided to seek opinion from the legal adviser regarding the purchase of undisputed land. The ASA delegation also demanded the Restoration of Orderly Allowance, purchase of new van for ASA and quality repair work of residences.
