LAHORE
A special cell of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf started an investigation on Tuesday into change of voters’ lists at eleventh hour of the by-election in NA122.
Led by Ch Sarwar, the cell has written to ECP to provide it the record of computerised voter lists used for the polls on October 11. The cell received one hundred complaints by voters in NA122 on its first day of working. Ch Sarwar also instructed the party officer-bearers to collect evidence of shifting thousands of votes ahead of the by-elections. The reports have been surfacing from the polling day that thousands of voters were excluded from the voters’ lists while thousands were added to the constituency. The PTI cell investigating the reports received from 100 complaints through social media and other sources. In the letter sent to ECP, Ch Sarwar has sought the record of voters’ lists of NA122 used in general elections 2013 and by-elections 2015. He said the matter would be taken to its logical end while adding that PTI was raising the issue of rigging time and again to preserve and ensure the sanctity of ballot.
The democracy and rigging can not coexist in the country, he stated. It appears from the number of complaints that there was a planned rigging in by-elections, he said. If reports are found true, he said, PTI would protest against all those responsible including ECP.
