MULTAN: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf central organiser Jehangir Khan Tareen has said that the Supreme Court has admitted his appeal against the reinstatement of PML-N MNA Siddique Baloch for regular hearing from October 21.
Talking to newsmen at his farmhouse here on Thursday, he hoped that the apex court would decide the case in minimum time. He said that those who had escaped from the election would have to face the public trial. He said that the PTI was hectically preparing for the local government elections in Lodhran district. He alleged that the returning officers had rejected PTI candidates’ nomination papers without any reason in different districts. He said that the PTI would organise another public meeting in Lahore on Friday (today) and would finally win the by-polls.
Speaking on the occasion, ex-PPP ticket holder from PP-208 Akram Khan Kanju announced joining the PTI. He criticised the PPP for de-tracking from the Bhutto’s manifesto and mission. He said that the workers had no prestige in the PPP.
Earlier, Siddique Baloch had challenged his lifetime disqualification before the Supreme Court and the SC suspended the Multan election tribunal’s verdict to de-seat him on September 28. The SC also ordered reinstatement of Siddique Baloch as MNA, besides staying the by-elections in NA-154, Lodhran-I.
The election tribunal had disqualified MNA Siddique Baloch on the charge of a fake degree on August 26 and ordered re-election in the constituency.
