MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Father of a 10-year-old child, who was murdered after an assault on Sunday, died of heart attack here on Thursday morning.
Ten-year-old Raza Arshad, a class 4 student, was murdered by unidentified people after an assault at Mohallah Roshanpura.
Muhammad Arshad, father of the slain child, came back from Saudi Arabia on Wednesday evening. He was shocked over the mishap and suffered heart attack in the night. He was shifted to a local hospital where he died.
Hearing the news of Arshad’s death, traders of Railway Road, Phalia Road, Jamia Mosque Road and Bank Road observe complete strike.
The traders along with residents of Mohallah Roshanpura staged a demonstration by placing the body of Arshad on a road. They also staged a sit-in on a railway track for hours, causing suspension of traffic between Lalamusa and Malakwal. The protesters were demanding immediate arrest of the killers of the child.
On information, DPO Raja Basharat Hussain along with heavy police force rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesters. Later, addressing the protesters, the DPO said that the city SHO had been transferred. He said that four teams had been formed to probe the incident. He vowed to arrest the culprits in three days. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
In the meanwhile, police have added Section 7-ATA in the murder case of Raza Arshad.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Arshad was laid to rest in the city graveyard. Hundreds of people, including former MPA Dewan Mushtaq Ahmad, attended his funeral prayers.
On the other hand, the mother of the slain child is in a state of coma and is under treatment in a local hospital.
