A woman who was on Saturday allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws at their house located in Karachi’s outskirts succumbed to her injuries on Thursday during treatment at the hospital.
Shah Latif police said Humaira was admitted in the Burns Ward of the Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi after she was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws at their house in Moosa Jokhio Goth on April 25.
Officials said a case was registered against the in-laws on the complaint of the woman’s father Ghulam Rabbani, who said Humaira had married Wali Muhammad some three years ago, adding that his son-in-law had poured petrol on her and set her on fire.
Rabbani said his daughter’s mother-in-law was also involved in the incident, as she had ordered her son to set Humaira on fire in the kitchen, adding that they had claimed that she caught fire while cooking. Police said they have arrested the mother-in-law but the husband is still at large.
