Murder accused flees after injuring cops, others

LAHORE:A murder accused fled from police custody after shooting at and injuring four people, including two policemen at CIA Ghaziabad police station.

The accused identified as Asif snatched pistol from a cop and left four people, including two cops, injured. He had been interrogated in a murder case by SI Mushtaq for the last many days. As the cops slept, he whipped out pistol of SI Mushtaq and tried to flee. As the cops tried to capture him, he opened firing.

As a result, four people including two cops and a sweeper received injuries. The injured were identified as Asghar, Riaz, Saeed and Ali. The accused fled the scene with handcuffs. CIA In charge Amir Dogar said police were raiding to arrest the accused.

corona suspects: The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service, Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the performance of Emergency Service with reference to Covid-19 during a meeting held at Rescue Headquarters here on Tuesday.

Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Rescue Service shifted 6,038 suspected corona patients to hospitals and quarantine centres in Punjab. Out of total 6,038 suspected Corona patients 4300 patients have been shifted to hospitals and 1,738 patients have been shifted to quarantine centres across Punjab. Furthermore, 137 suspected corona burials were performed by Rescue Service in Punjab.

The DG Rescue said that despite the fear the rescuers are responding to over 2500 emergency calls even during Corona lockdown. These include 1,386 medical emergencies, resulting in 857 admissions in hospitals and 80 deaths on April 27.

Whereas 649 road traffic crashes also took place resulting in 361 admissions and 12 deaths. There were also 58 crime emergencies and 26 probable suicides, 47 fire emergencies, 84 people were injured due to fall, 19 got electric shock, 7 got burnt, 54 were injured due to occupational injuries and 91 delivery related emergencies were managed by Rescue Service in one day.

Earlier, Dr Farhan Khalid, DRF Team leader, Pakistan Rescue Team briefed the Director General on the Lahore Expo Rescue Triage/ Isolation Centre received total 1,923 patients since March 31 and 1,299 patients were required consultation only due to normal cough, fever and flue, whereas 475 positive patients have been shifted to Expo Isolation Centre and 149 were shifted to other hospitals.
