Dr Asim Hussain, Azra Fazal Pechuho and other respondents were issued notices on a plea challenging the appointment of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) chairman, on Tuesday.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) while hearing a plea, filed by Prof Amirul Haq, also issued notices to the advocate general and called in the comments of all respondents for the next hearing.
Prof Haq submitted in his petition that the provincial government had flouted laws and overlooked merit criterion, prescribed under the service law, while appointing former secretary to the Sindh Governor, Akhtar Ghauri, as the Board’s chairman.
He maintained that Ghori’s was a political appointment and prayed to court to set his appointment notification side.
The chairman was also former additional secretary for education and was appointed on June 18 this year.
