A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nankana Sahib on a petition seeking release of senior vice-president PML-N Youth Wing Nankana who has been detained on the charge of being a member of banned outfit.
Maqsood, the petitioner, through his counsel contended that his brother Mawyia is senior vice-president PML-N Youth Wing and had no connection with any banned organisation. However, DCO Nankana had declared him active member of outlawed organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and issued his detention order. The move, he claimed, would wreak havoc on political career of his brother. He requested the court to set aside detention order against his brother and release him. After hearing initial arguments, bench led by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued notice to DCO and sought reply by October 5. The petitioner has annexed his brother photographs with Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif with the petition. Affidavits of local MPA Tariq Mahmood Bajwa and local PML-N leadership are also appended with the petition.
Plea dismissed: Justice Ijazul Ahsan of the Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed petition of PTI against the use of government machinery for by-elections, ruling that the petitioner should approach the relevant forum. PTI filed a petition and submitted that the government machinery was being used in the constituencies where the by-elections were due and the code of conduct of the Election Commission of Pakistan was openly being violated.
