SUKKUR: The Joint Action Committee of Pakistan Medical Association and Young Doctors Association Sindh on Tuesday protested against the Sindh government's health policy to effectively counter Covid-19 due to which the number of cases are on the rise in an alarming fashion.

Holding an emergency meeting of the Joint Action Committee of Pakistan Medical Association with Dr. Peer Manzoor in the chair, they expressed deep concern on the rising cases of coronavirus among the medical staff and the public due to lack of PPEs and adequate testing and screening measures to isolate the vulnerable from the healthy population.

Criticising the Sindh government for its poor planing andismanagement of Health Dept of Sindh, which prevented them from anticipation of shortage of PPEs and screening facilities, Dr Manzoor expressed the fear that if the doctors and paramedics contracted the contagion, it will be a recipe for disaster. The medical community is forced to work without adequate care and have since long been demanding protection but the Sindh health department is least pushed.

Against the backdrop, the PMA Joint Action Committee decided to allow the govt three more days to equip them with PPEs and screening equipment following which the entire responsibility of any extreme step would lie with the provincial government. Meanwhile, the doctors will continue work by wearing arm bands.
