HEC policy on research termed anti-education
LAHORE:The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has termed the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) new policy on research journals anti-education threatening the ongoing research process in the country.
In a press release, FAPUASA secretary general Dr Kaleemullah Barech said under the new policy, to be implemented from June 2020, Pakistani teachers and researchers would be forced to get their research papers published in international research journals instead of Pakistan research journals.
He said this would not only result in delayed publication process but would also result in the form of financial burden.
FAPUASA general secretary also demanded abolishing w, x, y and z categories of research journals.
Meanwhile, in a separate press release, FAPUASA Punjab chapter also expressed concerns over the new policy and termed it “needless and disheartening” for academics and researchers while observing the policy seriously undermines the education and research endeavours in the country. It demanded immediate withdrawal of the same.
