GCCI for opening of export sector industry

GUJRANWALA: Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) office bearers Tuesday expressed concern over alleged uncooperative attitude of the district administration regarding the opening of export sector industries.

Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mian Umer Saleem and senior vice-president Irfan Sohail in a joint statement said the government of Pakistan have allowed the export industry to carry on work during lockdown but local industrialists are still facing problems due to lack of cooperation by the district administration.

They said now exporters are cancelling their orders causing a great loss to the business community and the national economy.

They demanded higher authorities give favour to industrialists and allow them to open industries with specific time restrictions and SOPs.

NARCOTICS, ILLEGAL WEAPONS RECOVERED: Police have arrested hundreds of accused and recovered illegal arms and drugs from them last month.

Reportedly, police last month recovered 29 Kalashnikovs, 38 rifles, 49 shotguns, 436 pistols, 11 revolvers, five carbines.

The police also detained drug peddlers and recovered 11.3 kg heroin, 333 kg Charras, 2.3 kg opium and 3,549 bottle liquor.

YOUTH DROWNS IN RIVER: A youth drowned while taking bath in River Chenab.

Usman Ali, 17, of Wazirabad and his friends went to the river for a picnic where he dipped in the river and drowned.
