GHALLANAI: At least 52 residents of Bajaur district, who were returning from Karachi and elsewhere in the country, were arrested by the district administration for violating Section 144 and entering the Mohmand tribal district on Tuesday.Taking action on a tip-off, Assistant Commissioner Lower Mohmand, Qaisar Khan, directed the station house officer Yakkaghund police to barricade the road for checking and arrest the passengers being secretly brought to the district. The officials during checking arrested 52 individuals belong to Bajaur district for violating Section 144 and entering the district at Darwazgai point in the district to prevent spread of the coronavirus. The returning residents of the two districts were being brought from Karachi and other parts of the country in a dumper truck and entering the Mohmand district. The arrested persons were then taken to the nearby quarantine centre for the Covid-19 screening. After the initial screening, the arrestees were quarantined so that the corona viral disease could not spread in the area. The police have registered the case against the driver under sections 144 and 188.
