Navy distributes rations among needy families
karachi: The Pakistan Navy is extending support to needy families in the current difficult state due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The spokesman for the navy said that in coordination with various philanthropist associations, the Pakistan Navy distributed food and commodities while reaching out to families in various cities and towns across Pakistan.
Thousands of ration bags (each weighing 30kg) carrying basic food and commodities were distributed to families of low-paid employees of units and organisations and were also handed over to various cantonments of Karachi and the Sindh Police for further distribution to needy people in different localities.
The Pakistan Navy, while taking utmost care of the fishermen's community, distributed 32 tons of rations on Shams Pir Island, Karachi.
It is resolutely extending its support by providing subsidise rates on basic food supplies in different residential areas. Additionally, food relief measures have also been taken on a large scale in far-flung areas and hundreds of ration bags have been distributed in various rural villages of coastal and creeks areas including Blara, Ghazi Bale, Pathan Goth, Kappar, Surbandar, Ganz, Lal Basti, Damb and Theem Goth.
In collaboration with a local NGO, the Pakistan Navy parceled up a large quantity of ration and sent to the Badin district and its suburbs, including Jumma Malah Goth, Haji Bachal Soomro Goth, Kumbhar Mohalla Goth and few other villages of Jati.
In Islamabad, dry ration was distributed to needy families in a Kachi Abadi area, while over thousands of kilogram of ration was handed over to the union councillor of Kot Radha Kishan for further distribution in rural towns/villages in Lahore.
The Pakistan Navy, besides providing humanitarian assistance across Pakistan, is also conducting awareness campaigns to help in countering the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic.
