200 rickshaw, taxi drivers freed with 15 days ration

Rawalpindi : Setting a precedent of human care and wellbeing of deserving families amidst prevailing lockdown of coronavirus pandemic, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Sohail Habib Tajik and City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi DIG Muhammad Ahsan Younis not only released rickshaw and taxi drivers but also handed over them 15 days ration items for their families.

On instructions of RPO Rawalpindi Sohail Habib Tajik and CPO Rawalpindi DIG Muhammad Ahsan Younis as many as 200 rickshaw and taxi drivers were released from police custody on violation of Section 144 and their impounded vehicles were given to them along with ration bags to assist their respective families.

Setting an outstanding welfare precedent for poor segments of society, police officials of Rawalpindi along with Rawalpindi Traffic Police in a joint good will gesture, not only freed 200 impounded vehicles seized in connection of Section 144 violence but also provide ration for the families of drivers.

Rickshaw and taxi drivers in Rawalpindi have been provided ration items keeping in view prevailing lockdown scenario in the city and possible difficulties faced by families of rickshaw and taxi drivers commuting in the twin cities.

Meanwhile, City Traffic Police with assistance of Rawalpindi police officer s also provide facemask, hand sanitizer and 15 days ration to drivers and also appealed them to stay inside homes amidst prevailing Coronavirus lockdown.

Rawalpindi police also announced that needful people can visit police stations in their respective areas to collect ration items for needs of their families. CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis stated that police has been playing frontline force role in the war against Covid-19 and also committed to employ all available resources to assist the deserving families.

Meanwhile, senior police officials also appealed to public and affluent people of the city to cooperate with police in reaching out to deserving families for assistance. CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis stated that police is committed and aware of its responsibilities to ensure protection of lives and properties of the citizens but also committed to assist the deserving families and needful people amidst prevailing lockdown scenario in the country.

He said deserving families can visit police stations in their respective areas if they want to seek any ration for needs of their families.
