GHALLANAI: The tribal journalists on Saturday staged a protest against the political administration for seizing the press club building in the Mohmand Agency. Led by the president Shakirullah, the office-bearers of the Mohmand Press Club took out a rally and blocked the Bajaur-Peshawar road for some time for traffic. They were carrying placards and chanted slogans against the political administration. Speaking on the occasion, the protesters said the political administration was victimising journalists by not releasing funds to the press club. They alleged the political administration seized the press club building to stop journalists from highlighting the problems being faced by the locals. They said that the administration also failed to provide protection to journalists as their houses were raided by the personnel of security forces. They threatened to stage a protest near the Governor’s House in Peshawar if the political administration did not stop the underhand tactics to embarrass the journalists.
