More rain forecast

LAHORE: City witnessed moderate rain Tuesday afternoon while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

The rain started in the afternoon and continued until evening. Following the rain, Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz directed the field staff to monitor city roads until all the rainwater drained out. Different city localities where light to moderate rain was witnessed included Johar Town, Shadman, Township, Canal View, Wapda Town, Jail Road, Davis Road, Garhi Shahu, Ferozepur Road, Samanabad, Kahna, Railway Station and etc.

Met officials said that a shallow westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts until Wednesday. They predicted that dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm is expected in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall was also recorded in other cities, including DI Khan 52, Bannu 28, Pattan 24, Dir (Lower 22, upper 18), Parachinar 20, Kalam 15, Mirkhani, Chitral 12, Takht Bhai 13, Peshawar (City 11, AP 02), Malam Jabba 09, Balakot 07, Barkhan 28, Zhob 26, Quetta (SM 16, PBO 06), Sibbi 10, Kalat 09, Panjgur 03, Turbat, Nokkundi 01, Bhakkar 26, Attock 18, Layyah 15, Murree 16, Islamabad (AP 08, Saidpur, ZP, Golra 06, Bokra 05), Rawalpindi (Chaklala 06, Shamsabad 05), Jhelum, Chakwal, Joharabad 04, Gujrat 03, Noorpur Thal, DG Khan 02, Sialkot (AP 02, City 01), Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffarabad (AP 12, City 07), Garhi Dupatta 11, Kotli 08, Rawalakot 04 and Jacobabad 01. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Kalam where mercury dropped to 01°C while in Lahore, it was 16.5°C and maximum was 26°C.
