BARA: Two coronavirus cases were reported in Bara tehsil of the Khyber tribal district, an official said on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner of Khyber district Mahmood Aslam Wazir told reporters that two persons including Qimata Bibi and her son Ishaq Khan belonging to Nala Ghundai Kohi area in Bara tested positive for Covid-19. He said the woman and her son had gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. The deputy commissioner maintained the two persons were declared positive for coronavirus by the Police Services Hospital in Peshawar.
“Both the patients are under the supervision of doctors at the Police Services Hospital,” Mahmood Aslam said. He added that they were investigated by a team in Peshawar, therefore, they were enlisted in Peshawar. “We have quarantined their home since 23rd March,” he said. He said the district administration had launched disinfection operation by chlorinating roads and markets in Bara, Jamrud and Landikotal.
The deputy commissioner added that the first coronavirus case was reported from Shalobar area in Bara. He said the administration had established two quarantine centres in Khyber. —Munir Khan Afridi
