SOP prepared for prisoners; judge frees 250
LAHORE :New Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been prepared to protect the jail inmates from coronavirus in Punjab.
The SOP contained 50 precautionary measures to keep the environment of jails clean. According to it, new prisoners would be examined and screened. Jail staffers would also be screened.
Meanwhile, Sessions Judge Saba Hussain visited Camp Jail and released 250 prisoners involved in petty crimes. 12 POs held: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 87 criminals, including 12 proclaimed offenders (POs) and 10 court absconders, in the last week.
PHP teams also arrested 43 drug pushers and 44 illicit arms carriers and recovered drugs and weapons from their possession. Police check over 21,000 people: Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) of Lahore police showed immediate response to the all 376 calls received on helpline 15 during the last week. Both Dolphin Squad and PRU helped as many as 93 people on different roads, checked 24,657 motorbikes and 21,386 persons. As many as 62 motorbikes were impounded and 221 persons were arrested due to incomplete documents. Dolphin Squad and PRU also arrested 35 persons for violating the ban on wheelie, one for firing and 39 accused were held for violating the ban on kite flying.
