Javelin thrower Arshad stops training
LAHORE: Arshad Nadeem, a national javelin thrower athlete, has stopped his training for the next year’s Olympics Games due to concerns over the Coronavirus.
Before the outbreak in Pakistan, Arshad busy in hard training under the supervision of his coach Syed Fayyaz Bukhari at the Punjab Stadium Lahore since last week. In this regard, Maj-Gen (retd) Akram Sahi, president of Pakistan Athletics Federation, said that practice would be resumed as soon as the problem of Corona virus is resolved. “Arshad Nadeem has had the opportunity to train more,” said he.
Once the situation eases, Arshad will be sent abroad for proper training, he added. He further said that five athletes including Arshad Nadeem were sent to China for advanced training for two months from December 27 to February 27, but due to the Corona virus, the players were called back to train at home and now the pandemic has also gripped the country, their training has been terminated which will be resumed later after the situation improves.
