RawalpindI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has sought extension of relief package to small and medium enterprise. RCCI President Saboor Malik in a statement said that 100 billion allocated for SMEs and agriculture sector.
The relief announced for domestic consumers of electricity and gas is appreciated however, its scope should be extended to SMEs as well. Saboor Malik demanded that electricity bills be exempted for SMEs as well. He said that in the current situation, businesses that were already in decline now unable to pay bills due to 14 days lock down.
He suggested that payments be waived or made instalments for commercial customers whose bills are due this month's 27th. He said the business community strongly supports government measures to deal with the Corona virus.
We also need to understand the ground realities. He said that the relief package for real estate and auto sector should also be announced. Along with this, incentives will be announced for the non-conventional industries like jewellery, marble, poultry and pharmaceuticals.
