Three Asian netball events postponed
KARACHI: Three major international netball events, Asian Netball Championship, Asian Women’s Netball Championship and World U-15 Girls Netball Championship, have been postponed due to coronavirus pandemic.
Asian Women’s Netball Championship was originally scheduled to be held from June 19-26. It will now be played in December. Apart from Pakistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, India, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Brunei are set to take part in the event.
Asian Men’s Netball Championship will also be held in December. It was scheduled to run from April 29 to May 5 in Singapore. Pakistan was to feature in the tournament along with Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, India, Thailand and Brunei.
International Girls U-15 Netball Championship has also been cancelled, which was to be held in Melbourne, Australia from June 29 to July 5. The new dates are yet to be announced for the event. Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) President Mudassar Arain has said that PNF has already postponed all netball activities in the country till April 15 on the special instructions of government and Pakistan Sports Board.
