Islamabad administration closes 325 shops

Islamabad : The district administration of Islamabad on Wednesday forced closure of 325 shops in various areas of the city for violation of SOPs defined to dealing with customers.

According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat some strict measures were being taken across the federal capital to ensure implementation of SOPs to succeed efforts to prevent spread of COVID-19. He said the shops were closed for not using sanitisers, face masks, gathered more than seven customers at a time and selling other items in cover of grocery and food items and medicines.

The deputy commissioner said the shopkeepers would be allowed to open shops once they submit an affidavit with the concerned police station. On violations for the second time, the shops would be closed permanently. The shops have also been asked to make customers stand at proper distance inside and outside shops.

On the other hand, a number of cash and carry outlets in Rawalpindi are flouting government orders. The departmentmental stores are crowded with customers and at the time they also use trolleys without taking precautionary measures.

The Islamabad administration is also distributing cooked food through mobile Langar Khanas in Tarnol, Bhara Kahu, Tarlai, I-11/4 panagah, G 10 water plant near Babari Masjid, F 6 water plant, F-10 Al Mustafa Tower, F 10 Markaz and G 9 Langar Khana. The activity was being carried out with cooperation of EHSAS and Sylani.
