Pak cricketers’ England tour likely to be delayed
LAHORE: As the worldwide pandemic crisis deepens due to corona virus, sporting events across the globe have been postponed and Pakistan cricket team’s tour of Europe and England is most likely be also pushed away to later months of the year.
But an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the series is in July and it is too early to decide its postponement. Pakistan team is to play the Netherlands, Ireland and England. But the English Cricket Board is considering various other options for a series with Pakistan for its coming season.
An official of the PCB stated that here is no option to conduct the Pakistan and England series in another country. The English Cricket Board has postponed its domestic cricket season till May 28.
He further said that England is the host country and it would be their call to decide the date of the series. Ireland and the Netherlands Cricket Boards are also reviewing the Pakistan series. Both the Irish and the Netherlands boards are also silent on the issues and have adopted a policy of wait and see. “In the current situation, it is premature to say anything,” said the official and added the issue will be addressed when the time come close to the series.
