CM Usman Buzdar opens ‘stay home, remain safe’ campaign
LAHORE:The Punjab government has launched a province-wide mobile awareness campaign, “stay home, remain safe” for safety from coronavirus on the instructions of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar who inaugurated this drive at a ceremony held at CM Office on Monday.
The chief minister disclosed that this campaign was initiated in Lahore through a squad of 250 motorcycles and 50 rickshaws adding that a total of 850 motorcycles and 500 rickshaws would be engaged to create social awareness at union council level in the provincial metropolis.
This campaign will be run through 4,130 motorcycles in the province and pamphlets will be distributed about precautionary measures, he added. Usman Buzdar emphasised that today’s Pakistan requires us to remain confined to our homes and people should follow the government’s instructions for safety from coronavirus.
He asserted that the government had taken every step for public safety and the challenge of coronavirus would be defeated with joint efforts. Pakistanis are a responsible nation who will fulfil their obligation of social distancing to avoid the agony of permanent parting, he added.
The ceremony was also attended by Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mussarat Jamshaid Cheema MPA, secretaries of health and information departments and others.
Cabinet meeting: Usman Buzdar has called the 28th provincial cabinet meeting today (Tuesday) to discuss 17-point agenda. The meeting will also be briefed about the situation arising in the wake of pervasive coronavirus pandemic.
Isolation centres: Separate isolation centres have been allocated to suspected coronavirus patients at Lahore General Hospital.
This was stated by Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Alfreed Zafar while talking at distribution of personal protective equipment for coronavirus among doctors at LGH. Ms DR Mahmood Salahuddin, Director Emergency Dr Rana Mohammad Shafiq, Dr Irfan Malik, DMS Dr Saira Akhlaq and other doctors were present.
Prof Alfreed Zafar visited various departments of LGH including Emergency Department and praised head of the department, Dr Rana Shafiq, and efforts of Duty DMS Dr Saira Shaiq for arrangements.
Talking to the media, the PGMI principal said every flu is not corona flu, but the requirement is that citizens should play their role in addition to governmental measures.
He said doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are serving the ailing humanity round-the-clock and they would continue their services.
He stressed that slogan "Stay Home Save Lives" should be made public to raise awareness among people about the virus.
Later, Principal Prof Alfreed Zafar received calls from people from different cities on the helpline of coronavirus information in Lahore General Hospital and listened to their problems and advised them regarding this disease.
