Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has set up a ‘Facilitation Lounge’ for its retired employees for their occasional sittings and get-togethers. The facilitation centre has been named as ‘Welcome Home Lounge.'
AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui inaugurated the lounge in the presence of a huge gathering of its retired employees including some retired vice chancellors. In his inaugural address VC Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that the establishment of the Welcome Home Lounge was a dream that came into existence now. He said that the newly established lounge is an icon of the recognition of services of retired employees who built and strengthened this university. He said that it is a gesture of respect towards our retired employees for their contribution to the development of the university and promotion of education in the country.
The vice-chancellor further stated that the retired officers who rendered outstanding services are the precious assets for the university and we would benefit from their experiences. He said that because of their hard work AIOU has emerged as one of the mega universities of the world. The university will remember their long association and services, he added.
The vice-chancellor assured that a new system for the payment of pension will be launched soon to facilitate the retired employees of the university.
