A 50-year-old man was killed by a speeding van in the Lorri Adda police limit on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Yaqoob Khan hailed from Rawalpindi and worked here as a manual labourer. On the day of the incident, he was on his way when a rashly-driven van ran over him, as a result, he received fatal injuries. The van driver fled the scene. The injured Yaqoob was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man was found dead lying near an open nullah in Chungi Amar Sadhu, Kot Lakhpat. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to morgue.

The boy identified as Azan hailed from Sanda and studied at a local school in class 3. The traffic warden Asif spotted the boy crying on the road after losing his way home. Later, he traced the boy's family and handed him over to his mother.
burnt: Household items worth thousands of rupees were burnt when fire broke out in a house in the Samanabad area on Tuesday.Fire had erupted at the house of Mohammad Umar of Samanabad due to a short-circuit. In another incident, fire broke out in a potato chips manufacturing factory in Shahdara. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished fire. No casualty was reported in the said incidents.

A 35-year-old man was recovered dead near the shrine of Madho Lal Hussain in Shalimar area and a 45-year-old man was found dead lying near Muslim Town Morr. Police shifted the bodies to morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of deaths.

A spokesperson for the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) said candidate Muhammad Rehan Rehman Roll No.107668 was caught during the inspection at exam centre 49-A, Lawrence Road.
