Trauma life support course held
LAHORE:The Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course was held under the auspices of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) under directorship of National Residency Programme Prof Mahmood Ayyaz.
The international-recognised course is now available for local Pakistani doctors for their capacity building. CPSP has now introduced the latest 10th edition of the course in the country. Pakistan is the first country in the South Asian region which had done so.
CPSP has also completed a decade of running ATLS advanced skills courses meant to improve the quality of care provided to victims of trauma. The course is being made compulsory for the trainee doctors in CPSP fellowship programmes.
During the course, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz stated that CPSP had trained more than 3,000 surgeons from army, public and private sector through these courses.
King Edward Medical University Lahore Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal distributed certificates among the successful participants. Professor Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof Siraj-ul-Haq, Prof Kamran Khalid Cheema, Prof Muhammad Waris Farooqa, Prof Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Prof Jamshed Akhtar, Prof Muhammad Zubair, Prof Rofina Soomro and Dr Ahmad Uzair Qureshi facilitated the course.
Two cops shot at, injured: Two cops were shot at and wounded when they raided the den of a drug-pusher in the Liaqatabad area on Sunday.
The injured cops identified as Amir and Nadim were admitted to hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger. The drug-pusher identified as Intazar alias Dodhi also sustained wounds during the crossfire.
