4 nimko making units sealed

LAHORE:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed four production units of Nimko and discarded 32 maunds of unwholesome food while carrying out a grand operation in the area of Allama Iqbal Town and Dholanwal Main Bazaar here on Sunday.

The operation was led by Director General Irfan Memon. All factories were producing unhygienic Nimko and snacks with substandard and prohibited food articles which are injurious to health. Meanwhile, PFA confiscated 900-kg unsanitary Nimko, 200-kg ‘pakoriya’, 100-kg chips, 80-kg vermicelli, loose colours and spices and later discarded them. Irfan Memon said the authority closed down production units of Haji Nawaz Nimko, Jhulay Lal Nimko Pakoriya, Haji Sahib Nimko Pakoriya and BM Nimko over wrong labelling, fake packing and failure to produce a record. He said Nimko and other products were being manufactured with substandard chickpea flour, loose adulterated spices and dirty oil. He said all manufacturers failed to meet hygienic working environment.

coordinators: Thirty Rescue officers, including women, were selected for Moavineen-e-Haj - 2020 in a balloting ceremony held at Rescue Headquarters.

The ceremony was chaired by the DG Punjab Emergency Service, officers from academy and other officials were also present. According to the spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Punjab, primarily balloting for Moavineen-e-Hajj of 2020 conducted at the district level across Punjab under the leadership of District Emergency Officers on the instructions of the headquarters. After that, all DEOs sent the selected nominees to headquarters for final balloting. On this occasion, DG Rescue Punjab selected 30 officers, including women rescuers out of total through fair balloting process for Haj coordinators. He said that out of 30 selected rescuer nominees, the Ministry of Religious Affairs would finalise the names of only 15 members as coordinators of Haj-2020.
